This is the first time I ever reinstalled an OS which is Windows XP. Sorry, there was a problem flagging this post. guess Ill take a look around and try to find the reason.. Since you have other PCs connected to the same switch, take a look at the settings of another one that is running XP.
the day before I reinstalled XP, I could connect to the network and the internet (via the router) with no problems.
