After intense googling, I managed to find people with similar problems, however the threads either got derailed or their solutions did not apply to my situation. or what can be the problem? UPDATE I no longer get the following error, sound files will play (had to add my user to the sound group), however no sound can be heard. If it still doesn't work i'd remove pulse audio.

Find the card you don't want to be the deafult. This points towards the driver not being loaded, but lsmod says otherwise:Module Size Used by
